S & M adherents over the last few years have been contriving to legitimise their pathetic, childish (and dangerous) practices in the eyes of people who are striving to bring an end to the capitalist system of production and distribution; they have even gone to the extent of formulating wanky theories about transgressing the boundaries of bourgeios morality. The simple answer to them is that they themselves are indulging in activities which only serve to re-enforce the dominant/submisive relationship between the ruling and working classes. Working-class women suffer enough pain and humiliation doing shitty jobs for even shittier wages without having to come home to whips, clips, chains and nipple clamps.
Unlike gay persons, S & M adherents are not oppressed because of their lifestyle, nor do they pose any threat to bourgoise hegemony. What really gets up their rubber knickers is the fact that the majority of people who are active in trying to bring about a truly free, democratic, peace-promoting, egalitarian society, see them as nothing more than a bunch of neo-fascists. Long may it remain so.
I love how "bourgeois hegemony" the phrase really means, y'know, the oppression of the working class, but it gets made into the snootiest, most academic phrase ever. It's an interesting twist.

As if most SMers give a damn about anti-capitalism anyway. I apologise that my evidently politically incorrect sex life doesn't exemplify someone's idea of a social-economic vision.

It's people with his views who are more likely viewed as fascists - sad as a whole, because anarchism is still a valid concept in its own right (even if I disagree with it) and doesn't deserve the bad name it has - but ignorant and abusive people like him give everyone a bad name.

It reminds me how once on a LiveJournal BDSM community, some straight person came along telling us how SMers should stop worrying about things, because gay people are oppressed so more more than SMers, and therefore, this meant that SMers have no right to complain at all about anything, ever.
So, not only ws this person who decided to "enlighten" us straight, but many of those he was criticising were gay (or bi).
And when pointed out small things like SM being illegal (or some images soon to be illegal), he responds along the lines that that's rightly the case - it's not uncommon for SMphobes to hide their prejudice behind a shield of "But I'm supporting gay people!"

Reality is obviously not that important to a lot of people, since they clearly never pick up the phone when Reality is a-callin. Reality must get really lonely with all these people avoiding its calls, hiding behind the couch when it comes over, and crossing the street when they see Reality walking down the sidewalk.
