Very much reminds me of This Video that you've probably already seen... "Why it is okay for sex to hurt the vagina." It's like the same thing. And with these two videos there is still questions about whether they are meant to be satire or serious. Cuz I can totally see it going either way.
"Why it is okay for sex to hurt the vagina"*running for the brain bleach*
It's ironic that I now actually want to smack the person who made that video.I think whoever made it knows what they think, isn't interested in asking questions for the sake of genuine elightenment on the subject and is too cowardly to show their real face and ask sensible questions or just come out and say 'I think BDSM is wrong' so they are cloaking it in a 'cute and funny little video'. Patronizing and offensive. Though I havent decided what the % is on each yet.Eugh, people really need to learn to get some balls (no pun intended).
I get the sense this person is serious... and seriously does not understand bdsm. It's sad that some people still equate it with serial killers. The big difference they miss is that bdsm is CONSENSUAL and serial killers get off on non-consensuality. Two completely different things.
From the look of it, this is yet another example of the guilt-mongering through social networking sites campaign, like the anti-BDSM "sex positive" group on Facebook, aimed at bringing a certain political faction's anti-kink message to a wider audience with a younger demographic. The idea here seems to be to make BDSM "ucnool," but the crude, heavy-handed way they're going about it is likely to have the opposite effect. The heinous association of BDSM players with serial killers and rapists doesn't exactly help this crowd win over anyone already familiar with the realities of BDSM culture, or even newbies just beginning to experiment with it, who I presume to be the target audience for this nonsense. Anyone who knows anything about kink already knows this is just the same old lying smack dressed up all cutesy poo in the most condescending manner possible.Perhaps they really think we're actually all that dumb, but in the process of talking down to us, they end up making themselves look dumber than we could ever be.
*running for the brain bleach*Uhh I guess that means you hadn't seen it yet... Oops! But yeah it's like the same thing, both videos. They're both trying too hard. Or is it not hard enough because that would require, you know, brain work, forming pointed arguments & possibly exposing yourself to ideas that might make you uncomfortable. I like how the little characters are all smiling despite the "Don't do this!" tone & have childishly drawn bodies. The guy in the costume looks like he is walking on his Fingers.
It's pretty clear that the "why it's OK for sex to hurt the vagina" video is a satire, especially if you watch it all the way through. Whether it matters is another question (as in Mother Night). As for this one...I don't know. It's not funny enough to be a joke. The whole argument seems to boil down to the equivalent of, "Eww, how can you like olives?" (This is, incidentally, how I feel about olives, but I don't need to advertise it on Youtube.)
I made a video response. I wanted to imitate their style, but I didn't feel like trying to do all those drawings.I wish now that I had done some for the "squirm, wriggle, squeal, giggle" bit, though.
It reminds me of the truly awful anti-drug-and-alochol PSAs they made us watch in middle school... the same pathetic misunderstanding of both the topic and the target audience, the same patronizing tone, the same heavy-handed "just say no!" message. Those made me want to go out and drink like a fish, and I didn't even like the taste of booze at the time. So you can imagine what this makes me want to do...
Actually, I lol'd. I thought it was a joke. I can't imagine the person was serious, but if he she is, I still think it's funny. As someone else said, the spanker and spankee were smiling away . . . mmm! Spanking!
To me it was about as intellectually rigorous a statement as saying, "Why can't Pakistan and India get along? They're all brown people!"
Well, it could be a joke, I guess. But I've always thought of a joke as one person saying something funny and the other person laughing. It strikes me a little passive-aggressive, in the sense that it is wrapped up with being all sweet, whilst actually having a seriously patronising and offensive attitude - like those who say something awfully offensive and then say "joke!" at the end in an attempt to stave off comebacks. Then again, maybe whoever created it is just very, very naive and just needs a good tying up and fucking? Also, the thought of being forced to "get it on all nice and wholesome" makes me want to cry and/or vomit.
I like the rebuttal, Snowdrop. And while the general tone of the movie frustrates me, the rainbow-y spanking pic is sweet.
I think I'm mostly left with, "If you're asking about bondage, what's with the guy in the mask and diaper with the whip?"I dunno. I wish people would actually use their words.
The best part is the OTHER video this person made."Signs God is calling you -- #1: Your CONSCIOUS is bothering you."Pretty sure that God would call me with someone with a better grasp of my native language, but whatevs.
I think it is serious, but the author seems to know very little. Actually, the style reminds me a bit of this little (sarcasm) Gem (/sarcasm) on why Harry Potter is evil....http://www.geocities.com/houseofmst/uolrant.htm
When I see stuff like this, I have to quash my initial impulse to just ridicule the dude who made it, and try to think inside their skull. Here's how I think they think...Kinksters have not yet gotten the message across to the wider world that many of us identify submission, dominance, etc. as aspects of our sexual identity, not just atomized activities. Lacking that message, I think a lot of (younger) vanilla folks get exposed to BDSM tropes and view them as a litany of erotic experiences they haven't had and ought to try. With that set-up, people are bound to react badly to BDSM, because they see it as something that they are vaguely being pressured to do, if they want to be like the cool kids.
I think the person is serious, and at some point in the past, was hurt and does not know how to deal with it...
